Fifty finalists shortlisted for the Wienerberger Brick Award 2018

Out of 600 submitted projects from 44 different countries, 50 finalists have been shortlisted to compete in the Wienerberger Brick Award 2018, the eighth edition of the biennial architecture award that honours the most innovative examples of clay brick construction.

The award is divided into five categories: Feeling at home (single-family houses, semi-detached houses and small housing projects); Living together (multi-family houses); Working together (commercial buildings, offices and industrial buildings); Sharing public spaces (public buildings for education, culture and healthcare, public places and infrastructure projects); and Building outside the box (innovative concepts and ways of using brick).

Whether they are hollow tiles, facing bricks, roof tiles or terracotta pavers, clay products must play a significant role in submitted projects. The choice of winners will focus in particular on how the projects combine functionality, sustainability and energy efficiency.

The Brick Award presentation ceremony will be held in May 2018 in Vienna and will be accompanied by the publication of Brick 2018 featuring all the shortlisted and winning projects.
