Sacmi Heavy Clay strengthens its position in the Belarusian market

The Sacmi Heavy Clay Division has supplied a new tunnel kiln with an annual production capacity of 35 million 1.0 NF bricks and hollow blocks to the Keramin Joint-Stock Company of Minsk, Belarus, a producer of ceramic tiles, sanitaryware and bricks.

The new kiln, which has a width of 4.65 m and length of 113.05 m including the pre-chamber, is made of materials that are particularly resistant to chemical attack, corrosion and high temperatures. It can contain up to 40 cars, including one in the pre-chamber. This latest kiln will operate alongside existing machines of similar size and loading capacity, thus allowing existing cars, car loaders and stackers to be used.

In the final firing zone there are special units that allow the materials to be fired in a reducing (flashing) atmosphere, thus allowing for random variations in product colour.

The kiln is also equipped with devices for the recovery of hot air from the cooling zones, allowing it to be used as combustion air for the burners and bringing significant energy savings.

The kiln was delivered at the start of January 2015 and will replace one of the existing kilns and raise output capacity while improving quality.
