Cersaie warms up its engines

Cersaie 2019 announces some of this year’s new features, from the “Famous Bathroom” exhibition to the new theme area Archincont(r)act.

Famous Bathrooms will be the subject of the theme exhibition at this year’s Cersaie, to be held in Bologna from 23 to 27 September 2019. Following the musical settings of last year’s event entitled The Sound of Design, this year the collective exhibition held in Hall 30 of the exhibition centre will offer a free interpretation of bathrooms inspired by figures who have shaped history, from the Beatles to Sigmund Freud, from Coco Chanel to Piet Mondrian, and from Le Corbusier to Maria Callas.

The two curators, Angelo Dall’Aglio and Davide Vercelli, have chosen a new exhibition model midway between an art gallery and a classic trade fair. The itinerary will focus on new furnishing and tiling solutions for the bathroom, a space that is increasingly being seen as a place of well-being that requires the utmost customisation. Visitors will be welcomed in a visually-appealing space where each setting is an independent location showcasing new products from the leading industry brands present at Cersaie. In the central area there will be a space devoted to the programme of talks and a lounge area hosting meetings, debates and award presentations. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Philippe Daverio.

Cersaie 2019 will also be introducing a new thematic area in Hall 29 called Archincont(r)act, which aims to bring together the world of architecture and the Italian and international contract furnishings sector. The first edition of this new section will extend over a 700 square metre space and will host 10 leading architecture and design firms: Arclinea, Caberlon Caroppi Italian Touch Architects, Genius Loci Architettura, Iosa Ghini Associati, Joy – Design, Mario Cucinella Architects, Noa Network of Architecture, Studio Bizzarro Galimberti, Studio Marco Piva and The Hickson Design Partnership.
