Events and trends at Expo Revestir 2016 in Sao Paulo

Expo Revestir, the most important exhibition of architecture and finishing solutions in South America, provided a comprehensive overview of the main market trends and hosted more than 200 exhibitors in the 40,000 square metre exhibition space of the Transamerica Expo Center. The Brazilian ceramic tile manufacturers were naturally out in force, although there were also large numbers of foreign companies from UAE, Japan, the United States, the Czech Republic, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, Germany and Israel. Besides ceramic tiles, exhibitors displayed parquet, stone and other floor covering materials, and bathroom furnishings. There was also a section devoted to ceramic technology which was packed out with Italian companies.

Numerous events were held during the first few days of the Brazilian “Architecture and Construction Fashion Week” organised by Anfacer (Brazilian ceramic tile manufacturers’ association). These included the election of the new chairman of Anfacer on 2 March during the association’s Annual General Meeting. Heitor Almeida, chairman of Ceramica Almeida, was elected as the association’s leader for the next two years, taking over from Eliane’s chairman Edson Gaidzinski Junior.

Once again this year the International Forum of Architecture and Construction featured a packed programme of events. On 1 March, more than 800 people attended the opening conference devoted to Interior Designers, which was concluded with the presentation ceremony for the New Talent ABD Award, organised by the Brazilian Association of Interior Design ABD and involving schools and universities. The Forum continued over the next few days with a focus on the themes of Retail and Construction, while the last day was devoted to Architects.

One particularly well-attended event in the Forum was the talk given by acclaimed Brazilian economist Eduardo Giannetti da Fonseca, who expressed his optimism that Brazil would pull through the current economic crisis. “We have experienced several periods of recession over the past few years, each of which appears to be the worst while it’s in progress. But it’s only after the crisis has passed that we can measure its impact precisely. I’m sure the country will be able to recover from this latest turbulence, and I expect this to happen in 2018.”
