Diamorph Hob Certec doubles capacity with a new kiln for Hyperroll XXL rollers

Diamorph Hob Certec (Horni Briza, Czech Rep.), a renowned manufacturer of refractory rollers for the ceramic industry and part of the Swedish group Diamorph AB since 2012, has announced a major technology investment that will double its production capacity of Hyperroll XXL rollers with lengths of up to 6.5 metres.

By the summer of 2017, the company will be starting up an exceptionally large new-generation kiln (useful volume of 150 cubic metres) capable of producing up to 400,000 rollers/year with energy savings of 35% and a consequent reduction in CO2 emissions. The kiln will operate at temperatures of up to 1660°C with a tolerance of ± 2.5°C in all firing zones, ensuring a high degree of uniformity in terms of modulus of elasticity, fracture strength and density over the entire length of the roller as well as very small tolerances in rotation and diameter. The rollers are suspended semi-mechanically inside the kiln to ensure the highest possible firing performance and to prevent product breakages.

Looking to the future, the new kiln is the only one in the world that will be able to fire rollers of lengths up to 8 metres and will guarantee the highest levels of quality of the entire Hyperroll XXL range (Hyperroll-X, Hyperroll-Dense, Hyperroll-NG, RCZ and Correctorroll) in spite of their dimensions.

The investment also includes the installation of a new dryer and was prompted by Diamorph Hob Certec’s strong growth in sales, particularly in Italy, Spain and Germany. This excellent sales performance is due to the growing popularity of large tile sizes and the parallel development of adequately sized kilns, including Siti B&T kilns which are the biggest user of Hyperoll XXL rollers.

Diamorph Hob Certec is expecting further sales growth in both 2016 and 2017.
