Laminam Japan founded

After Russia and China, Laminam is starting up its third foreign company in Japan as a joint venture with Roma Tile Co. Ltd.

Laminam, the Fiorano Modenese-based company specialising in the production of ceramic slabs for architecture, interiors and furnishings, and the first to have industrialised the manufacturing process, continues its growth and internationalisation trend.

After setting up companies in Russia and China (Laminam RUS in 2016 and Laminam CHINA in 2018), it is now the turn of Japan. Founded on 4 December last year, Laminam JAPAN is a joint venture between the Italian company led by CEO Alberto Selmi and the Japanese company Roma Tile Co. Ltd., headed by chairman Shigeru Matsushita, already Laminam’s exclusive business partner in Japan since 2011.

This successful collaboration has enabled the Italian brand to rapidly establish itself as a leader in the local ceramic surfaces market through public and private architectural projects, as well as in the contract and hospitality segments and in the retail sector for brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Shiseido and Tiffany. Laminam floor and wall tiles can now be found in shopping centres, railway stations, subways, airports in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, as well as in residential projects such as Sekisui House, Daiwa House Industry and Asahikasei Homes built by leading local developers. Since June 2019, Laminam’s controlling interest has been held by Alpha Private Equity Fund 7, which has further strengthened the company’s commercial strategies and ambitions.
