Marazzi, Italian primacy driven by technological innovation

2017 has been an eventful year for Marazzi Group, which has been busy with the acquisition of Emilceramica, the opening of the showrooms in London and Paris and the upgrading of the Sassuolo plant in Italy, which has received major investments in technological innovation, like Marazzi’s other two Italian sites in Finale Emilia and Fiorano.

In November 2017, Mauro Vandini, CEO of Marazzi Group, announced that "works at the Sassuolo plant is now coming to an end, and the plant should be on-stream by the beginning of 2018. All the lines have been built using latest-generation Italian technology and, as always, we minimised disruption to current production by taking the work one step at a time. This is obviously not the quickest way to get the job done, but it enabled us keep on manufacturing and meet demand, given that our latest products are still performing very well on the market, thus justifying all the investments we have made in recent years".

During our talkings, Mauro Vandini addresses current topics, from new production trends and the expressive potential of extra-large ceramics, to the good opportunities for a further growth on the international markets, thanks to both a correct approach to the world of design and architecture and a closer cooperation between manufacturers and distributors.

He does not forget competitors, saying "there’s no doubt that the Italian ceramic cluster still stands at the forefront of product and process innovation and that’s why we’ve invested in all our facilities, to improve our products and make them competitive and attractive on the market. But good ideas and beautiful products are not enough on their own. And Spain’s ceramic cluster, where we have two plants, is posing an increasing challenge in terms of its ability to compete".
