Roka Ceram looks to the future with a new Sacmi plant

The young Iranian company has installed and started up a complete floor and wall tile manufacturing plant supplied by Sacmi in Yazd.

Roka Ceram, a young Iranian ceramic tile manufacturer, started up a complete modern tile production plant at the end of 2018 in Yazd, the country’s most important ceramic manufacturing area. Entirely supplied by Sacmi, the production plant stands on a 20 hectare site with a covered area of around 40,000 sq.m and is producing 10,000 sq.m of tiles per day, mostly in 60x60 cm and 80x80 cm sizes. The line is ready for a future doubling of capacity.

The heart of the plant consists of the MMC111 modular mill, the ATM110 spray dryer and the two PH3590 presses, ideal for producing floor and wall tiles in sizes ranging from 30x30 cm to 90x90 cm. In addition, a new 170-metre FMS kiln was installed downstream of the press. Roka also chose Sacmi technology for decoration with the installation of two glazing lines equipped with two Sacmi Intesa DHD1208 digital decoration units with Dimatix heads. All the handling and sorting solutions were supplied by the Sima and Nuova Fima brands, the Sacmi Group companies specialising in automation. For Sacmi, which has had a presence in Iran for decades, this latest order is an important milestone achieved despite the country’s continued difficulties.

The new company Roka Ceram Yazd Co. was officially opened on 14 February in the presence of the Iranian Minister for Industry, Mine and Trade and has an annual capacity of 3.6 million sq.m and around 200 employees. The company led by Majid Khojasteh (pictured) is part of the Khojasteh Industrial & Trading Group, which already operates in a range of sectors including packaging, food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. In keeping with the company values, Roka Ceram was likewise set up to boost the country’s industrial development and employment and to meet domestic market demand with locally-manufactured products.
