Sacmi installs the most modern line in Europe at Ceramika Paradyż

The heart of the new plant is the Continua+ PCR 3000 for the production of tiles and slabs in various sizes and thicknesses up to 3 cm with through-body veining

Ceramika Paradyż, a leading Polish manufacturer with a share of almost a quarter of the domestic market, recently started up a new ceramic tile and slab production line as part of a technological innovation project co-funded by the European Union.

As the technological partner for the investment, Sacmi supplied the highly powerful Continua+ PCR 3000 compactor capable of producing slabs of various sizes and thicknesses up to 3 cm with outstanding versatility. One of the most important characteristics of this machine is its ability to perform through-body veining, allowing manufacturers to perfectly coordinate the coloured powders deposited upstream from the compactor with any digital decoration on the unfired slab.

“Thanks to this technology, we now have the most advanced line in Europe,” explained Piotr Tokarski, chairman of Ceramika Paradyż. “It allows us to produce tiles in sizes from 60x60 cm to 120x280 cm and even 180x320 cm and in thicknesses ranging from 6 mm to 3 cm, as well as to perform through-body decoration on some sizes.”

In other words, the line is capable of producing a complete family of products in a coordinated manner via a multi-format approach. Following the addition of seven new collections developed in collaboration with leading international designers, the Polish manufacturer now has ambitious plans to further expand its product portfolio.

The total value of the investment stands at more than PLN 125 million (€27.6 million), of which more than PLN 50 million was provided by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Intelligent Development Operational Programme 2014-2020 co-financed by the European Union. The project is part of the “Fast track” competition for large companies and consortia organised by the National Research and Development Centre.

In addition to the Continua+ line, Sacmi also supplied the other machines making up the plant, including the dryer, the kiln, the handling systems and the glazing and sorting lines. One of these is the DHD1408 digital decorator, complete with all the innovative systems necessary for perfect coordination with in-body decoration when manufacturing products with through-body veining. For the finishing and grinding departments, Paradyż has installed Sacmi-BMR lines.
