Sasil and Sacmi Team transform industrial waste glass into raw materials

Sasil (Brusnengo, Biella, Italy), a producer of feldspathic and silica sands for the glass and ceramic industry, has carried through an innovative R&D project in partnership with Sacmi Team, the division that since 2007 has brought together all the Sacmi Group's best machine design and development skills for the technical ceramic industry.

Sasil has successfully completed experimentation on an innovative, proprietary process aimed at recovering waste from glass fibre manufacturing. The contribution of Sacmi Team specifically involved the work of specialists from Sacmi Forni and Riedhammer under the coordination by Sacmi Imola.

The neutralization kiln designed by the team of specialists performs heat treatment on this kind of waste to achieve a product that can be entirely reused as a raw material, something that was previously unattainable due to the material's characteristics.
