VitrA due to start up in Russia at the end of 2010

VitrA, one of the largest European manufacturers of ceramic tiles and sanitaryware, will begin production at its new Russian factory at the end of 2010. Located in the city of Serpukhov near Moscow, the new production facility required an investment of around 30 million euro and extends over a total works area of 200,000 square metres, including a covered area of 25,000 sq.m. With 150 employees and an annual production capacity of 3.3 million sq.m, the factory will be used for the production of mosaic, porcelain tile and wall tiles.

The start-up of the sanitaryware production lines is scheduled for the end of 2011. Russia is one of the Eczacibasi Group’s key strategic markets, where VitrA products are distributed through the subsidiary Zao VitrA. The first VitrA showroom was opened in Moscow in 2009 and will be followed during the current year by a further four points of sale in Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and Serpukhov.
