Gruppo Sanitari Italia invests in new automation from Sacmi
The Viterbo-based company has installed a new automatic siphon glazing unit and the sixth Sacmi AVM to improve the efficiency of automation, piece handling and process logistics
Gruppo Sanitari Italia (GSI), a leading manufacturer of high-quality ceramic sanitaryware based in the Civita Castellana area, has taken a further step towards the complete automation of glazing lines. For this purpose, it has once again chosen Sacmi as the supplier of a new automatic WC siphon glazing unit to integrate with and expand the capacity of the existing line.
Specifically configured to meet the customer’s requirements, this solution features an innovative in-siphon glaze application system that reduces piece rotation, thereby considerably simplifying piece handling and logistics. The glazing station is served by two robots, one to handle the pieces and the other to apply the glaze inside the siphons.
The investment is part of the plan to expand its production facilities at the plant in Gallese Scalo (Viterbo) where the company has also recently installed its sixth Sacmi AVM. The new casting module will be used for the production of WCs and joins the other Sacmi pressure casting solutions installed in recent years, including the 5 AVM units already in operation, the AVI, ADM and ADS modules for the production of WCs, washbasins, console washbasins and shower trays, and a SACMI-Riedhammer shuttle kiln equipped with Reko technology.
The advantages of the new AVM include maximum flexibility of use and improved mould stock management, as well as the possibility of configuring the cells at different levels of automation, including handling, direct lifting and car loading after the finishing operations.
All supplied solutions stand out for their high degree of automation and interconnection between the various machines in keeping with Industry 4.0 principles, confirming Sacmi’s role as GSI’s main technological partner in this ambitious long-term investment plan.
