Roca Group makes new acquisition in Brazil

The group has strengthened its presence in Brazil with the acquisition of a sanitaryware factory in the state of Ceara. This brings the number of Roca production units in the country to 12.

Roca Group has finalised the acquisition of a sanitaryware production plant in the state of Ceara in Northeast Brazil for an investment of 16 million euros. The facility has been in receivership since 2018 and at a standstill since April 2020, but under Roca’s ownership will gradually resume operations as early as May with the aim of reaching full productivity by February 2022. When fully operational, 270 jobs will be created.

The plant has a production capacity of 1.4 million pieces per year and will be used to produce sanitaryware for the group’s brands and for Roca brand exports to Central and North American markets. Built in 2016, the site is considered one of the most modern facilities in the industry. Roca plans to implement its Eco-Roca sustainability programme at the site with the aim of reducing emissions, saving energy and recycling production waste.

The operation strengthens the Spanish group’s leadership in Brazil, a key market where it has a further 11 production facilities and 4,170 employees.
