GAIOTTO AUTOMATION: robotic solutions

The international robotic solutions specialist Gaiotto Automation is presenting a range of solutions catering for customers' different technical needs and budgets.

Robot GA2000 is one of the most widely-used self-learning robots. Ceiling mountable without the need for mechanical or electronic modifications, the machine is designed to coordinate easily with different handling systems (carousels, transfer units, conveyors) in any glazing area layout, whether longitudinal, centralised or combined. Various components assure maximum ease of control and maintenance: 6 hermetically sealed gearmotors with the minimum number of connections, protective casings on all motors and ease of access to all moving parts. The robot also uses multiple programming with self-learning, point-to-point and off-line options. The off-line 7WD (7 digital axes) solution automatically simulates trajectories and generates glazing programs. The combination of 6 axes of the robot and the 7th axis of the turntable considerably reduces cycle time and overspray. This new programming system can be used to create, simulate and optimise glazing programs from a computer without stopping production.
Robot GA-OL is the new robot specially designed for off-line programming. It is simpler than the GA2000 because it does not have a self-learning function but is designed with the same kinematics, allowing it to make complete use of programs generated with the self-learning robot. The system of non-reversible precision reduction gears controlled by brushless servomotors guarantees a high degree of precision and repeatability of movements of all axes. Hermetically sealed gearmotors, protective casings on all the motors and a minimised number of connections guarantee a high protection rating, while ease of maintenance is ensured by convenient access to all moving parts. The GA-OL robot can also be ceiling mounted without the need for mechanical or electronic modifications.

The two robot models described above are designed to interface with external devices such as:

-       Visus Pro: a vision system designed to recognise the various types of pieces and to correct the programmed trajectories according to their real position. The system is based on the principle of program translation in a Cartesian plane.

-       Mass Control: automatic glaze supply management. The system is capable of regulating the quantity of product delivered by performing measurements and adjustments 25 times a second. At last year's Tecnargilla, Gaiotto introduced a new model featuring electronics integrated into the robot's control board. This considerably simplifies the devices by grouping all the functions onto a single operator interface. This system is considered essential for the purposes of savings and optimisation of the sprayed product.

Robot GA/F-OL is a solution for users who wish to invest in automation with an optimised FANUC robot based system. It is fully compatible with the Gaiotto off-line programming software package and can be entirely integrated with the glaze flow control system (Mass Control). The wrist joint load and the working range specifications are comparable to Gaiotto robots. The GA/F-OL robot can be ceiling or wall mounted without the need for mechanical or electronic modifications.
