Officine Smac: Non-Spot Line", a complete line for the application of acids, anti-stain protection and antibacterial treatments of polished tiles

Officine Smac is presenting Non-Spot Line, a complete line for the application of acids, anti-stain protection and antibacterial treatments of polished tiles. Designed in cooperation with the market-leading producers of chemical products for the ceramic industry, the line has a length that varies according to the type of treatment and consists of the following work stations:

  • cleaning and blowing station;
  • devices for anti-stain product application;
  • devices to even out the applied product;
  • product drying and crystallisation station;
  • brushing and polishing devices for treated products;
  • final washing and blowing devices.

The transport line is built entirely from stainless steel and has a width and number of belts that vary according to the tile size.

The first operation involves removing all previous processing residues (polishing, chamfering, etc.) using suitably designed brushes. A combined air system removes the washing water and dries the tile perfectly for the subsequent stage of applying the protective coating.

Smac offers various application systems depending on whether the product is neutral, solvent or acid based. Application may be performed by means of silicone rollers or laser engraved polyurethane belts. The applicators are mounted on independent conveyors to ensure a flat, rugged surface. Tile sizes up to a width of 1200 mm can be treated. The various devices guarantee uniform and constant application over time, minimising the quantity of applied product and eliminating any kind of waste.

Following application, there is normally a device with rotating brushes or oscillating felt pads to guarantee the perfect penetration of the applied liquid into the tile's pores.

If rapid drying of the applied product is required, it is possible to install the compact dedicated electric dryer with quartz lamps equipped with automatic start/stop and temperature control.

All product that is not retained within the pores in the tiles must be removed before or after drying according to the type of treatment. For this operation, Smac offers various types of wet or dry, satellite or transversal multiple-head or single-brush brushing machines which allow for a perfect finishing and final repolishing of the surface of the treated tiles.

Based on experience gained with more than 30 plants built to date, Smac is able to evaluate new solutions according to the available spaces and requirements of individual customers in cooperation with the suppliers of the chemical application products.
